Editing Cell Padding

Cell padding controls the space between a cell's border and its text, independently for Top, Bottom, Left, and Right.

PowerPoint and Excel: cell padding isn't part of a PowerPoint or Excel table style at all - PowerPoint stores it per table instead of per style, and Excel's table style format has no cell-margin concept at all. In PowerPoint files these controls show but are disabled; Excel has no design panel at all (see Table styles in Excel), so cell padding from an imported style simply isn't applied there either. Cell padding works normally in Word. See PowerPoint specific notes and Excel specific notes for more.

If you want to share a style across applications, you should edit the style in a Word document to set as many properties as possible.

Choosing a unit

A dropdown next to the "Cell padding" heading lets you enter and read values in pt, cm, or in - whichever is most natural for you. The values themselves are always stored in points internally; this only changes how they're displayed and typed. Your choice is remembered for next time.

The first time you use the app, the default unit is chosen automatically based on your Windows region setting (metric regions default to cm, others to inches).

Range

Each side accepts 0 to 20 pt (about 0.71 cm / 0.28 in) - a deliberately modest ceiling. If you type a larger value in cm or in, it will be clamped down to that same limit; this is expected, not a bug.
