Editing Borders
The Borders card has six independent rows: Top, Bottom, Left, Right, Inside Horizontal, and Inside Vertical. Each row is fully independent - Top can be a thick red line while Left is a thin green dashed one at the same time.
Inside Horizontal and Inside Vertical
These control the lines between rows and columns within the scope - they're genuinely separate settings from Top/Bottom/Left/Right, not a shortcut for them. For example, on Whole Table, Inside Horizontal is the line between every pair of adjacent rows, while Top and Bottom are only the table's own outer edges.
Each row's controls
- Enabled checkbox - turns that side on or off.
- Color - click the swatch to open the same theme/RGB picker Fill uses (see Editing fill), plus an Automatic option here (matching Word's own border-color gallery) that lets the host application choose a sensible color rather than a fixed one.
- Width - 0 to 6 pt. You can enter any value in this range, but the spinner controls increment/decrement in 0.5 pt steps.
- Style - Solid, Dashed, Dotted, or Double. Table styles support for border styles, but these are so rare that you cannot set them.
Preset buttons
Four buttons above the rows change which sides are enabled, without touching any side's own color/width/style:
- Select all - enables every side.
- Outside - enables Top/Bottom/Left/Right only.
- Inside - enables Inside Horizontal/Inside Vertical only.
- Deselect all - disables every side.
Because these presets only flip Enabled, you can safely use them to reset which sides show without losing any customization you've already made to a side's color, width, or style.
